Design rule 20 should not break - Part 4 (end)

16 - Create own mark

Design trends, like fashion trends, we quickly emerged, quickly sinking. When the trend went through it all that you made earlier are no longer regarded as trendy anymore, but if you do not follow the trend is deemed not catch up time. What would you do in this case?

When there is an emerging trend yet, you drilled to follow it, I'm not saying you have to skip or ignore it, but to thoroughly understand, why it is a trend, it has strengths and what weaknesses. From there, continue to comply with the trend but follow your way, use the answers to the question why it is the tendency to make something for yourself, take advantage of the strengths and limitations of the weak point. Do not see what they do and imitate follow to keep up the trend but do like a machine without knowing anything about it.

17 - Use the proper functioning of the engine

A designer should know how to use tools best support for their work. Photoshop for image processing, Illustrator for vector printing design, InDesign for page layout, ...

Each tool offers us some of the best things to cater for the job. Find out each tool before using, choose the right tool to bring the best support. Also, mastering tool, never let his master tool.

18 - Check the limits of the elements

Before you start designing something, you have to find out the purpose of using its design like. That means you have to know they used that design in magazines, on the web, in books, or pamphlets, posters, outdoor billboards, etc ... Once you know the purpose of such use, you will determine the need and conditions enough for a designer.

For example, if your page layout, you do not leave gaps for the neck, when the finished product, the content can be located in the neck will be blocked or cut off, causing difficulty reading and content loss. If you define the page layout for printing books, think about how to secure the margin and neck, to ensure finished products made out without any unnecessary errors.

Another example, if you design a web product, font of content is simply about 14px easily readable, because the distance of the eye to the screen receptive to such letters with font size . And if you design to shine on TV, the distance from the eye to the screen further, it is necessary to use a larger font size.

Give the limits of each factor on the design to ensure a safe product is launched.

19 - Rules of grammar

There are so many grammar rules that inadvertently you're broke. Take the time to learn some of the rules of design-oriented grammar can make your design more perfect.

First is the use of symbols. Should be responsible for replacing the word "and" by the symbol "&". This notation is often used for titles held (for example, "Johnson & Johnson") or in the logo design. Some cases, when the line breaks to complete a magnetic material, not to cut characters out, causing loss of continuity of letters and gibberish. Another case is that of a paragraph only used words, not used numbers or special characters. Punctuation must close on the last character of the sentence, behind the dot is a gap, then comes the next sentence, and the first character design dots must be capitalized, and more ...

A perfect product is not basic grammar mistakes. So remember to check everything carefully before printing or publishing.

20 - Do not have too much effect

When a design using too many effects, causing factors become very heavy eyes, glitzy, not focusing on the issues that need to be communicated. Get rid of all unnecessary effects from the design, keep the design fresh, clean and tidy as possible.
